The challenge

Blue Legal's goal was to simplify their processes while being better prepared to meet the needs of their clients. Jan Gerrit Kroon, attorney and mediator at Blue Legal, emphasized the need for a system that fits their business philosophy of being client-centric rather than system-centric.

He explains: "I worked as a labor and IT lawyer. In my last role I saw a lot of failed automation projects, but I also knew what could go well. So we started looking at which application was suitable for our way of working.' By "our way of working," Jan Gerrit is not referring to the traditional legal profession. At Blue Legal, they prefer to speak of clients rather than customers, so software that supports the legal profession more as a business service was necessary. This perspective brought them to Blinqx Legal.

Especially the fact that it is so wonderfully simple to implement, with no expensive software, servers or maintenance contracts and no waiting periods with IT departments, is very nice.

The process/method

The implementation of Blinqx Legal was simple and smooth. Jan Gerrit emphasizes that Blinqx Legal was already easy to use in 2015, and has remained the same in the meantime, despite the amount of functionality Blinqx Legal has added in the meantime. "We have quite a few young colleagues, and when you see how quickly everyone picks it up, the usability is just still very good," he says.

Jan Gerrit loves technology (hence his specialization in ICT law), but at the same time does not want to depend on complicated technical solutions. He is happy to mention that this is not an issue with Blinqx Legal, as there is no need to engage third parties to use the software. He explains: 'Especially the fact that it is so wonderfully simple to implement, with no expensive software, servers or maintenance contracts and no waiting periods with ICT departments, is very nice. With a laptop and Internet access, and at most the occasional Word, you can do almost anything.'
