In 2007, VDT adopted a workflow that combined several separate software programs and applications (such as Outlook for e-mail, Excel for spreadsheets and a Document Management System (DMS)) to form a workable system.
However, this way of working created inefficiencies and a lack of consistency because the programs were not fully integrated. The use of multiple programs side by side led to a messy and less effective work process. VDT Lawyers therefore looked for a solution that could integrate everything into one system, making the work process more streamlined, simple and uniform for everyone in the firm.

The process/method
Koenraad de Klerk, an experienced attorney specializing in corporate, insolvency and business law, was responsible for the search for an advanced automation solution. BaseNet was quickly chosen because it offered a unified and integrated way of working from the first version in the Cloud.
De Klerk says, "The first version of BaseNet was way ahead of its competitors in 2007. The program offered a well-thought-out and uniform way of working for everyone.' This was experienced as a relief by both de Klerk and his colleagues.

What’s next?
"I find it hard to imagine any office today that doesn't work with some form of office automation like BaseNet. Says de Klerk. He does hope that in the future BaseNet will offer a better overview of files, similar to a paper file. An API is also important for VDT Lawyers to link BaseNet to tools such as Microsoft Power BI and internal web portals. This will allow the firm to become more data-driven. BaseNet is currently working on both enhancements.
